About
Boston Academy of Korean Traditional Arts (BAKTA), founded in 2022, is an educational and artistic organization that offers diverse learning opportunities in Korean traditional music and arts through lessons, workshops, seminars, and performances. Our goal is to rekindle, reshape, and revive Korean traditional music and arts through educational programs that engage with contemporary musical styles and artistic practices from around the world.
Our program offers private and group lessons in Korean traditional instruments and dance for both young people and adults ages ten and above. Classes are primarily held on Sunday afternoons at Somerville Community Baptist Church (SCBC), located at 31 College Ave, Somerville, MA 02144, as well as in faculty members’ private studios and other locations. The curriculum typically follows a 13-week (approximately 12–14 week) program consisting of regular classes that culminate in a performance presentation. The exact schedule may vary depending on the semester. We also offer special workshops and activities during breaks between semesters.
